Bark in the Park

Last weekend we went to Bark in the Park-- an annual dog event in the heart of our neighborhood (Naglee Park). The event is all about dogs and has dog racing, dog photographs, dog adoption services, dog clothing... you get the picture. No, we do not have a dog, but YES, we have a dog lover-- Luke. The photos below are just a few snapshots of the day.

Rancho San Antonio Park

This morning we woke up and decided to go on a hike. Luke has never been "hiking" and it was a new word for him. We drove to Los Altos to hike the Rancho San Antonio trail. The trail winds along a path and is known for great wildlife. Then, about a mile into the hike, you'll find Deer Hollow Farm, which is a little farm full of goats, sheep, cows, chickens, etc. We knew Luke would like it and he did. Along the path to Deer Hollow, we came across wild turkeys and young deer, just walking in the grass/woods near the path. Luke was amazed and wanted to run right up to both animals and pet them. We finally arrived at Deer Hollow and soon realized that Luke was a bit disappointed. "Momma, where'd food go?" he kept asking. He is so used to Happy Hollow Zoo (where the animals eat from his hands) that he was a bit confused! He still had a great time and especially loved the giant red tractor that was parked in the barn. :-)

Maroun-Beaman visit

Today the Beamans came to San Jose. Bill had agreed to help Raj rebuild our garage doors. The two men worked for 12 hours and finally finished! Thanks so much to Bill for his handy skills (Raj learned a lot). Meanwhile, the "women folk" hung out with three rambunctious boys all day long. We took walks (see below- Cooper and Luke smelling flowers), played in the backyard (kiddie pool) and cheered on the dads. What a great day with some wonderful friends.

Friday activities

Today Luke found glitter paint I had hidden in his closet. So, we got set up and he made some beautiful drawings, which we'll send to Grandma, Poppy & Nini, Auntie Nay and Uncle Adam, Uncle Tommy, Auntie Kay, and Biji & Grandpa. After the painting session Luke had a great time "helping" Daddy wash the windows... ha ha! Today is the last Friday of my summer break (boo hoo) -- I know, I'm being a bit histrionic, but I can't help it. I will miss these lazy days of summer and so appreciate that I've had the past 8 weeks to bond with my husband and son.

Vasona Park

Today we went to Vasona Park with Katherine and Suzanne Dow. We rode a train around the park and saw a bunch of ducks and tractors. It was a blast!

Happy Hollow (we're sad...)

What will we do without Happy Hollow (children's zoo) for an entire YEAR? They are closing for renovations. Luckily, Luke and I made it to their last day before closing, to visit the meerkats, feed the goats, try out the water pump, and play.

Library time

Luke loves the Martin Luther King, Jr library in downtown San Jose. I first envisioned my reading him books-- but to my surprise, he told me he preferred to read by himself. (Actual quote: "Momma, you sit ovah theah. Luke weeding.")

Children's Discovery Museum

Here are some shots of Luke playing at the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose. They have a pretend fire engine, ambulance, and buggy... Luke loves it. They also have a "water area" which keeps Luke entertained for a good 30 minutes straight-- a lifetime for a toddler.

Los Gatos

Here are some pics of Luke and Raj playing in the Los Gatos fountains.
